| BEACH LAWS & RULES The laws concerning ATV's, UTV's and, unfortunately fall into several areas of the Transportation Code. Anything with a "saddle" style seat, ATV is not allowed to operate on any public roadway or beach. The UTV's, side by side seat, were allowed, until recently. The law depending on what definition was used or interpreted allowed the ATV's to be operated by a licensed driver. With multiple statutes and interpretations the District Attorney's office was contacted for a ruling, the only motorized vehicle allowed on the beach, with certain restrictions is a golf cart, other than a motor vehicle that is registered, inspected and insured as if it was being operated on any highway in the state. In short, UTV's of any type are not allowed to be operated on the beach. Example: Ranger's, RZR's, Mules etc. ATV AND ROV'S OR OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLES ARE PROHIBITED FROM OPERATION ON ALL BEACHES, STATE AND COUNTY ROADS. OPEN CONTAINERS ARE PROHIBITED in any vehicles including GOLF CARTS PARKING PERMITS ARE REQUIRED for all vehicles parked on the beach NO GLASS CONTAINERS NO LITTERING Barrels are provided for recreational use only GALVESTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE WILL ENFORCE ALL STATE AND COUNTY LAWS |
